Full Moon Eclipse

There’s something happening in the sky tonight that feels almost too perfectly timed for this season of my life.

Tonight’s full moon is accompanied by a lunar eclipse in Pisces- my sign ♓️ And apparently, Pisces eclipses aren’t exactly known for being subtle.

Astrologically, lunar eclipses represent culmination. Things coming to the surface. Chapters closing. Truths becoming harder to ignore. They’re associated with releasing what has reached its expiration date rather than desperately trying to drag it into the next season of your life.

Pisces adds another layer to that. Pisces is emotional, intuitive, nostalgic and deeply connected to the things we can’t always explain. Its energy is associated with surrender- learning that sometimes the answer isn’t to push harder, control more or figure everything out.

Sometimes you have to let go.

And if there were ever a message I needed after the last two years, I think that might be it.

The strange part is that astrologers have described this eclipse as the closing of a cycle that has been unfolding for roughly the past two years. When I read that, I actually laughed.

Because of course it is.

The past two years have felt like an entire lifetime squeezed into one chapter.

There were beautiful moments. Hard moments. Experiences that changed me. Situations I stayed in longer than I probably should have because I thought being strong meant being able to tolerate them. I learned that it doesn’t.

I left a job that had become incredibly toxic for me. I started questioning what I actually wanted my life to look like instead of simply continuing down the path I had already created. I married my best friend. I turned 30.

And somewhere in between all of it, I became a different version of myself.

That’s why tonight feels significant to me.

Do I believe a giant rock floating through Earth’s shadow is personally reorganizing my life? Probably not.

Do I believe humans have always looked toward nature for moments that remind us to stop, reflect and begin again? Absolutely.

And tonight, I’m choosing this one.

A lunar eclipse literally happens when the full moon moves into Earth’s shadow. There is something beautiful about that imagery.

For a little while, something normally bright becomes dark, but the darkness passes.

The moon doesn't fight its way out of the shadow. It doesn't panic because it can't see what comes next. It simply keeps moving.

That's the lesson I want to carry with me.

I don't need to force everything anymore.

I don't need to understand why every difficult thing happened.

I don't need closure from every person or situation.

I don't need to carry resentment simply because I once had a reason to feel it.

Some things can just be finished.

So tonight, under a Pisces moon disappearing almost completely into Earth's shadow, I'm giving myself permission to close the last two years. Not because they were bad. There were some incredibly beautiful things tucked inside the chaos.

But they did their job.

They taught me what I needed to learn.

I'm keeping the marriage, the memories, the growth, the people I love, the confidence I've gained and the woman I've become.

The rest can go.

The resentment.

The anxiety.

The environments that drained me.

The pressure to have everything figured out.

The fear of starting over.

The version of me who thought she had to endure something simply because she was capable of enduring it.

She can rest now.

Cheers to the next chapter!

Are you staying up to watch the eclipse? 🌙

Midnight margaritas, anyone? 🍹
